Walking Derwentwater & Derwent Pencil Museum

Sunday, May 25, 2025

The weather this day had me unsure what to do and I ended up doing not much.

I walked the shore of Derwentwater and the mountains surrounding are beautiful.

The sunny spot above is actually Catbells, a hike that I attempted the next day.

Walked back into town and got a coffee and whipped feta sourdough toast from Yonder. It was very cute inside and very busy (the line was out the door). It was also quite expensive for what it was.

I went back out later and just walked a lot, wondering around. I did get caught in the rain one time, a bit of a downpour, but then it cleared up. Very English.

Had time on my hands, so went to the Derwent Pencil Museum. Stood by the World's Largest Pencil. I don't have much to say about this museum. It was quite pencily.

My first pub dinner at Fell Pack was gorgeous and delicious. I had lamb pie and a half pint of the Wainwright Blonde Ale. I didn't have a reservation, but I was escorted to a spot at the bar. Perfect.

After dinner, I walked around a cemetery I had seen near my bed and breakfast. It was golden hour and so lovely.

I don't know if I've ever been in a cemetery with mountains in the background.

A rather chill day!
