Exploring Covent Garden

Wednesday, January 29

My last day in London was meant to be relaxing with just exploring the area of Covent Garden, near my hotel. I had a whole route planned out which I tried to follow, but the London streets are a little more complicated to navigate than I had anticipated. I should've put the route in Google Maps beforehand instead of trying to find things on the fly. In any case, I saw much of what I planned to see and quite a bit of it wasn't as good as I had hoped; a lot of times Instagram makes things looks cooler than they are. Anyway, here are some photos I took around the area.

A proper looking pub

This is called "Neal's Yard." Just a cute little courtyard with shops.

Here are photos I took inside the National Gallery. Photos of paintings aren't too exciting, but nonetheless...

William Shakespeare, Anne Boleyn (Queen Elizabeth I's mother), and Queen Elizabeth I

George Washington and Queen Victoria

King George, the Queen Mother, Princess Elizabeth
(before she was Queen), and her sister Margaret

Amy Winehouse & Ed Sheeran

Queen Elizabeth II with one of her beloved corgis & Prince Philip

After lots of walking, I headed back from the National Gallery and had an early dinner at a pub nearby to my hotel called The Round House. It was busy with happy hour and I was the only one eating food--sausage and mash and mushy peas. The barmaid was sweet and the meal was a great way to end another trip to London.
