Cemetery & First Night of Class

Most of today I was concerned about having the internet for class. The wireless at home wasn't working, so I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with the university's Information Systems department trying to figure out if I could have wireless access somewhere on campus or if I could access Elluminate on my computer at the office. Both of these scenarios would have required authorization from my supervisor who wasn't in the office today, so it was a good thing that when I called Carrie later on she said that the internet was fixed at home and that it should work significantly better upstairs in my bedroom. She was right--I haven't had any issues with it at all now, which makes my life a lot easier and better. It's amazing how slow and unreliable internet can be such a drag on your life!

Before coming home from the office today, I explored a little near Carrie and Ian's because I knew there was a cemetery nearby. I was able to find it fairly easily and I spent some time in there. It was so what I pictured it would be. Some stones were embedded into the ground; others were so old that you couldn't read anything that was written on them. I was also surprised that a few that were very old were actually still really readable--they must have used a different kind of stone than the others. I wasn't really paying attention to dates that closely, but I think the oldest ones I saw were people who died in 1850 or so. I'm sure there are older stones in there, but again, those are probably the ones where the stones has been worn so much that you can't distinguish any letters or numbers. The cemetery was huge! I would like to go back there and just hang out for a bit. Maybe that makes me weird, but I just like cemeteries.

Had class tonight and it was good to hear everyone's voices and know that they are all carrying on just as I am. At times I find myself really feeling like this is home, which I'm sort of surprised about. I feel like I should be doing more around the town. For instance, after class was over Ian suggested that I go for a ride, but it was nearly 8:00 pm and although the sun wasn't even close to setting, I was just settled in for the night and didn't feel like leaving again. I'm just a homebody like that and I know I should really do a lot while I'm here and I will... I think I just need a little more time to decipher my schedule and whatnot.
