Flight Booked & Internship Project

Well, it was official before but it's even more official now--I've booked my flight! I'll be leaving O'Hare on Thursday, May 13 at 8:10 pm on an overnight flight to London, arriving at 9:45 am. Wow. I just cannot believe this is actually happening and it's all coming together.

I have my letter from John Harding for my visa application and I'm all done filling it out. I'm just waiting for Charlee to look it over and give me the go-ahead to submit it. My federal police background check is currently in processing.

My project at Cambridge continues to sound more and more interesting. I'll be interviewing undergraduate and graduate international students with disabilities about their needs and benchmarking against other HEIs in the UK on funding and support for international students with disabilities. Dr. Phyllis thinks this sounds like a great project and John wrote the other day to say that my findings might be able to be published in the Journal of Inclusive Practice. I just can't believe this is all happening. I am so lucky.

No luck yet with accommodation but I've decided to be less freaked out about it right now. I realize that housing moves very quickly there and that landlords don't often know this far in advance when their rooms are going to open up. I heard back from the Link House Trust--no luck. The minimum stay is for 6 months. I have two emails out right now to private landlords but haven't heard back. I need to think about calling them maybe.

The classes this semester seem to be less stressful. Right NOW, anyway! The online class has the possibility of being very easy, which is nice. It's not exactly self-paced in that you have to complete assignments in a given time period, but we don't meet at a specific time on Thursdays, which is great. Content-wise, I'm not sure yet. Dr. Phyllis' class seems much less rigid in regards to assignments (no midterm!) and more interesting as far as content. No presentation, which I'm of course stoked about. Good stuff.

Life is good.
